I frequently browse the web looking for significant mentions of Robert Graves in the news to report to the website.

I've just come across this reappraisal of Graves' translation of Suetonius: "Sex, Power and Betrayal: 'Twelve Caesars' Still Compelling", by Jonathan Yardley.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A23479-2003Aug20.html

Yardly heavily references the Gore Vidal essay linked to from this website:

Both are worth reading if there's any wondering about Graves' relevance today.

On the same theme, the headline last Saturday (30 August 2003) of 'The Guardian', a leading British newspaper, was "Goodbye to All That".

The ensuing article was all about the long-expected departure of Tony Blair's Head of Communications, Alistair Campbell, and the "All That" to which "Goodbye" was being predicted was New Labour 'spin', but to anyone with an interest in Robert Graves and his work it was also interesting to see the well known title appearing as the headline of a leading British newspaper: and an indication of Graves's continuing influence, as Ian states.

The article can be accessed online at: http://www.guardian.co.uk/guardianpolitics/story/0,3605,1032184,00.html

Best wishes,
