|The New Year provides the opportunity to remind everyone that 2004 will be the year of the Robert Graves Society's Sixth International Conference, which will be held at Paris, France from Tuesday 6 July to Saturday 10 July 2004.
The organisers hope that as many people as possible will already have decided to attend the Paris conference, which will be held in the superbly-situated and equipped premises of the British Council and the University of London's British Institute in Paris; also that many others will decide to join us in order to produce a 'record' attendance for the series of Robert Graves conferences.
Interest in the conference is already extremely strong and I was delighted to find this morning that a search of both www.google.com and www.google.co.uk for "Paris Conference 2004" produced our conference as the top result. It was also encouraging to note that the record for numbers of people accessing these discussion boards was achieved yesterday, New Year's Day 2004.
Full information about the Sixth International Robert Graves Conference, "Robert Graves and the Experience of War" and a Call for Papers has been posted at the British Council's Literary Conferences website at: http://literaryconferences.britishcouncil.org/conferences/?p=950.
The conference will include a visit to the battlefields where Robert Graves, Siegfried Sassoon and other poets fought during the Great War.
You may register for the conference online (with payment via PayPal if desired), or access further information (including a map of the venue) or submit a paper for the conference at: www.robertgraves.org/register.php. (Or follow the links from the British Council's page at http://literaryconferences.britishcouncil.org/conferences/?p=950, above.)
Rates are reasonable and special rates apply for students and other concessions: Register, indicate your interest, or submit a proposal for a paper soon!
Please contact me at email@example.com if you have any specific or further enquiries about the conference after looking at the pages cited above. I hope to meet you (again?) at Paris in July 2004!
